Emails etiquette

Sending emails is such a mundane task that we sometimes do not put much thought into it. And by doing so, we can come across as rude or careless. To avoid such unfortunate outcomes, here are few reminders to make us always shine online.

  • Including a clear and direct subject line will help the receiver understand what the email is about.

  • Always use a professional salutation, even with colleagues.

  • Remember to keep the font classic when writing a professional email.

  • Humour can be interpreted differently. My advice is to always avoid it.

  • Proofread your emails before sending them.

  • Remember to include a signature block.

  • Add the recipient's email address last to make sure you have selected the right person.

  • Always remember that nothing is confidential, so write accordingly.

  • Refrain from forwarding emails unless it's mandatory.
