Smartphones Etiquette: be in control of your phone.


Our phones have become extensions of ourselves. We reach for them first thing in the morning and last at night, sharing everything from breakfast photos to triumphs and tragedies throughout our day. Our smartphones are not only for talking anymore but also for e-mail, social networking, games, reading, news, weather, directions, notes, camera, audiobooks, music. We use our smartphones like a prosthetic brain. It's an extension of our memory. Yet, we need to remind ourselves how to be mindful when using this extraordinary device as it could lead us to some unpleasant situations.


Be in control of your phone, don't let it control you!


Speak clearly when talking on the phone.


Be courteous to those you are with; put your phone on silent and practice active listening.


Watch your language, especially when others can overhear you.


Avoid talking about personal or confidential topics in public.


Avoid using social media platforms in the office.


Don’t text during a class or a meeting.


People can forward private info and confidential data, so don’t share it via texts or messages.


Never drive and use your phone at At the same time.
